Life Under Construction: Trusting in the foreman

I've found myself in many seasons of waiting - some easier to navigate than others. These periods of anticipation and uncertainty have often left me questioning the direction of my life. Recently, a mundane occurrence right outside my window – roadworks on my street – has unexpectedly given me a new perspective.

You see, living with these roadworks every day for almost a year, I've started to see them as a metaphor for life itself. It's like our lives are sometimes under construction. There's noise, detours, and it can be a bit of a mess. It reminds me that sometimes God's plan for us involves a bit of upheaval. Just like these road work’s, the foreman has got a plan, and even when it seems chaotic, we trust that His plan is perfect.

It's funny, I can't even remember what the road looked like before they started working on it, or what way I would normally drive home. It's kind of like life, isn't it? We get so used to the new way of things that we forget how they used to be. And even though we don't know how long the mess will last, there's this hope that once it's all done, things will be better than before.

There's this saying I like, “After the storm comes the calm.” I guess it's a bit like that. We're all waiting for the calm, the day when the barriers are gone and we can see the new road ahead. It's about trusting that, in the end, all these changes are leading us somewhere good, somewhere planned just for us.

So, while I'm in the midst of this literal and metaphorical construction, I like to remind myself that it's all part of a larger plan. I believe that one day, when I look back at this time of disruption, I might see how it all made sense, how each waiting season played a role in leading me to something greater, something intended just for me.

To anyone else out there in their own season of waiting, remember, these changes and challenges might just be the path leading us to something wonderful, exactly as intended.
